Nearly 1,500 community members gathered from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Feb. 14 to unveil the new addition showcasing Wooster Community Hospital’s new hospital entrance and emergency center.

Guests toured the new spaces and met members of the WCH team.

The new hospital entrance was designed to improve patient flow and provide easier access to key departments. With clearer color-zone wayfinding and a more streamlined layout, patients and visitors will experience a more convenient and welcoming arrival.

The Richard and Donna Smetzer Emergency Center has increased capacity to accommodate more patients. Highlights of the new emergency center include the following:

—A spacious waiting area with floor-to-ceiling windows.

—Specialized treatment rooms for trauma, cardiovascular and stroke patients.

—Enhanced clinical space to support high-quality emergency care.

—Closer parking to facilitate easier access for patients and family members.

“This project represents our continued commitment to providing quality care close to home,” said Scott Boyes, WCH CEO/president. “We were thrilled to welcome so many members of our community to tour the new addition and celebrate this important milestone with us.”

The new hospital entrance and emergency center will officially open to patients Feb. 25.
