The City of Wooster received the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA). This award was earned for the city’s comprehensive annual financial report for the fiscal year ending Dec. 31, 2024.
The Certificate of Achievement is the highest recognition in governmental accounting and financial reporting. Achieving this standard is a significant accomplishment for a government entity and its management, demonstrating a commitment to exceeding the basic requirements of generally accepted accounting principles.
This year’s award is especially historic, marking 40 consecutive years that the City of Wooster has maintained this elite reporting standard.
"This marks Wooster's 40th consecutive year receiving this prestigious honor," said Andrei Dordea, director of finance for the City of Wooster. "An achievement of this longevity is only possible through a collective commitment to transparency, fiscal responsibility and reporting excellence."
Dordea also expressed his gratitude.
“The city’s financial integrity relies on a shared commitment across several key parts of local government: the finance team, whose careful work and expertise ensure city records meet high standards; the city administration, which provides the leadership and support needed to uphold these strict standards; and city council for their ongoing support, resources and guidance, which form the foundation of the city's financial integrity," Dordea said. "We remain committed to providing our citizens and other interested parties with the clear, accurate and professional financial reporting they deserve."
