The Wooster Music Club closed its 2025-26 season May 5 with musical performances, poetry readings and the announcement of Dilgard Music Legacy Award scholarship recipients.File

The Wooster Music Club met May 5 at Wooster United Methodist Church for the final meeting of the 2025-26 season. Co-president Kathy Helmuth welcomed members and guests.
Prior to the performance segment of the meeting, the hymn “All Things Bright and Beautiful” was sung and the Wooster Music Club Prayer was recited. Scholarship winner Elizabeth Michel performed the flute solo “Berceuse” by Gabriel Fauré.

The singing trio About Time sang the following pop songs from the 1980s: “Sweet Dreams Are Made of This” by Annie Lennox and Dave Stewart, arr. by Debbie Allen; “One Moment in Time” by Albert Hammond and John Bettis, arr. by John Higgins; “Living on a Prayer” by Jon Bon Jovi, Desmond Child and Richie Sambora, arr. by Mac Huff; “I Wanna Dance with Somebody” by George Merrill and Shannon Rubicam, arr. by Paul Langford; and “The Greatest Love of All” by Linda Creed and Michael Masser, arr. by Jay Althouse.
About Time consists of Charlotte Marsh, Louie Miller and Joan Swartz, with accompaniment by Stephanie Musselman.
Cyndi Lauper was the subject of the Composer’s Corner, which was presented by Miller. The final musical performance was the duet “Serenity,” composed by Mary Marie Deauclaire and performed by Martha Starkey on B-flat clarinet and Mary Marie on piano.
Day Logan completed the performance segment by reading the poems “A Brave and Startling Truth” by Maya Angelou and “The Road Not Taken” by Robert Frost.
Wooster Music Club announced the following scholarship recipients of the Dilgard Music Legacy Award for 2025-26: Michel (teacher Susan Shaw), Logan Austin and Charlie Lorson (teacher Elyse Cummings), Brynlee Gralinski and Avery Zacour (teacher Myra Leeper), Audri McFarland (teacher Meg Litteral), Ingrid Mowrey (teacher Pam Yarnell), Elam Wenger and Kinsley Martin (teacher Chloe Raber), and Willa Halloran (teacher Sally Morton).
The Wooster Music Club meets on the first Tuesday of the month from September through May, except for January and February. The meetings begin at 6:30 p.m. and are held in Wesley Hall of the Wooster United Methodist Church. Guests are welcome to attend.
