The library’s “Unearth a Story” Summer Reading Program for all ages will run May 30 through Aug. 8. A kickoff event will be held from 10 a.m. to noon May 30 and will include games, activities, popcorn, cotton candy and appearances by community organizations.
Children ages 12 and younger can earn prizes for every 100 minutes spent reading or being read to. Jim Kleefeld will present “Dinosaur Magic” at 11 a.m. July 16. Registration for that free program begins July 9.
Teens who read for 60 minutes will earn an entry ticket for a grand prize, with additional prizes available for every 500 minutes of reading.
Adults 18 and older can earn entry tickets for prize baskets by reading or listening to books, with one book equaling one entry ticket. Adults who register by June 6 will be entered for a chance to win four regular-season Akron RubberDucks tickets. Two additional special prize drawings also will be offered.
As part of the library’s summer service project, participants of all ages who donate three-prong, two-pocket folders in solid primary colors for the Salvation Army’s Back-To-School Supply Drive will receive credit on their reading logs.
The library again will use the Beanstack online platform for reading tracking. Participants can create free accounts through www.orrville.lib.oh.us or orrville.beanstack.org or download the Beanstack Tracker app. Paper log sheets also are available. Both new and returning users must register for the 2026 Summer Reading Challenge.
