Dalton Friends of the Wayne County Public Library launches membership drive

April is Membership Month for Dalton Friends of the Wayne County Public Library. Members work behind the scenes throughout the year to enable purchases that benefit the library beyond what public funding can offer.

From the porch benches and seasonal planters of flowers to holiday decorations and prize baskets for reading promotions, evidence of the Friends’ involvement is everywhere. Toddler playtimes held Fridays at the library offer a welcoming space for families and young readers. FOL provides funding to refresh playtime toys and replace play items in the children’s room.

Membership brochures are available at the library to take home, fill out and return with payment to Dalton FOL at P.O. Box 105, Dalton, OH 44618. Brochures also have a printed QR code enabling members to register and pay electronically. For security reasons, library staff cannot accept completed membership forms or payments at the library.

Members meet two to three times yearly to hear library updates and to review requests for purchases that benefit the Dalton Library. Meetings offer a chance to connect with fellow library supporters, share ideas and volunteer for Friends’ activities. All members are welcome to attend, but participation is never required.

As a thank-you, all paid 2026 members who join by the end of April will be entered into a drawing to win a Kindle. The winner will be drawn at the next meeting, scheduled for 1 p.m. May 26 in the library community room.

“Libraries are more than just places to borrow books," Dalton FOL President Brianne Froese said. "They are gathering spaces for learning, discovery and connection within our community.”

Froese said membership dues go directly toward enhancing library programs, activities and resources for the community.
