Next Wayne County Civil War Round Table program is April 13
Chris Hart to present 'Tales from the Hart: A Taste of War' in Creston
The Wayne County Civil War Round Table will present its next program at 1:30 p.m. April 13 at the Creston Branch Library, 116 S. Main St., Creston.
The free program will feature “Tales from the Hart: A Taste of War.” Registration is available at www.wcpl.info.
The presentation will examine foods of the Civil War including cooking practices, food substitutions, the art of foraging, foods associated with holidays and conflicts over food. The program is especially suitable for school history classes.
“Tales from the Hart” is a presentation by Chris Hart that combines history and storytelling. Appearing in costume, Hart brings to life historical and literary characters, ranging from Cy Young to Ichabod Crane and Peter Daley, a Titanic survivor. As a Civil War enthusiast, Hart presents programs on a variety of topics including pharmacy, dogs and ghosts for Civil War Round Table groups.
Hart also portrays biblical figures such as Noah’s son Shem and a shepherd present at the nativity, as well as Martin Luther. His interest in history has been featured in publications including In Character, Ohio Magazine, Now and Then Magazine, and Ohio Cooperative Living, as well as in newspapers throughout the state.
Hart is a retired pastor of Birds Run Community Church and currently serves as interim pastor at Gospel Hill Ministries in Warsaw. He also is available for period weddings.
