Wayne County Speedway kicks off 61st season
Historic Orrville track hosts races every Saturday with special events through August
Wayne County Speedway will soon begin its 61st year of dirt track racing at the historic oval located at 1083 N. Carr Road, just outside of Orrville.
Races are typically held Saturday evenings, weather permitting, and feature five weekly divisions: sprint cars, modifieds, late models, super stocks and sport compacts (mini stocks). Gates open at 3 p.m., with heat races beginning at approximately 7 p.m. following qualifying.
Several special events are scheduled throughout the season. The World of Outlaws late models will compete May 28. Ohio Sprint Speedweek will take place June 15. The Summer Nationals Hell Tour will arrive July 12, serving as the week five finale of the monthlong series known for high-intensity racing and top-tier competition. Additional events include the Thrill Show July 18 and Monster Trucks Aug. 1.
A complete schedule is available on the speedway’s website and Facebook page.
Fans can stay updated on Wayne County Speedway news by following the track on Facebook and Twitter. A weekly podcast, “Turn 2 Talk,” featuring track owner Jason Flory and Ryan Pearson, airs Sunday evenings and includes race recaps, previews and driver interviews.
