Tuscarawas County Public Library to launch adult manga book club in 2026
The Tuscarawas County Public Library offers a variety of book clubs that bring together people with shared interests
The Tuscarawas County Public Library System will add a new book club to its 2026 offerings for adults. The Manga Book Club will meet the third Friday of each month at the Pilot Brewhouse in New Philadelphia.
In Japanese, “manga” refers to all kinds of cartooning, comics and animation. Among English speakers, the term refers specifically to Japanese comic books and graphic novels, while “anime” refers to Japanese animated films and television shows, often adapted from manga.
“Ever since I started working at the library, I have wanted to start an adult manga book club,” said Public Service Associate Maeggie Dotts. “With the increasing interest in our Adult Anime Club, now seems like the perfect opportunity to launch this adult book club.”
The Tuscarawas County Public Library offers a variety of book clubs that bring together people with shared interests.
Dotts, who has always enjoyed reading manga, said participants are encouraged to bring their most recent manga read and share it with the group. The first meeting of the Manga Book Club will be Friday, Jan. 16, at 5:30 p.m. The Pilot Brewhouse is located at 1690 E. High Ave. in New Philadelphia.
Registration for 2026 programs begins Wednesday, Jan. 14, at 10 a.m. To register for the Manga Book Club or other programs, call the Main Library at 330-364-4474 or sign up online at tusclibrary.org.
