Town & Country 4-H Club installs birdfeeders at nursing homes
Residents at Park Village Southside and Amberwood Manor will be able to enjoy birdwatching this winter and beyond
Members of the Town & Country 4-H Club braved a cold Saturday recently to install birdfeeders at two area nursing homes.
Residents at Park Village Southside and Amberwood Manor will be able to enjoy birdwatching this winter and beyond.
This marks the second year for the community service project. Funds for the effort — nearly $500 per year — were raised by club members through their annual plant and flower sale.
In 2024, 18 steel shepherd hooks with filled feeders were installed at Park Village Southside. Earlier this month, an additional five were placed at Park Village, and a dozen were installed at Amberwood Manor.
While working outside in the cold, club members were able to see and wave to residents inside, many of whom will now enjoy the added activity outside their windows. Members said the project reinforces the importance of serving others in the community.
The club also provided each facility with a plastic storage bin of birdseed to help ensure the feeders remain full throughout the winter.
