Lyla Wiggs has been selected as the 2025-26 Strasburg Lions Club Rose Queen. Wiggs, a senior at Strasburg-Franklin High School, is the daughter of Greg and Cathy Wiggs of Strasburg.
Wiggs is a member of the National Honor Society, serving as treasurer, and is on the Kent State University Dean’s List. She is active in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and has completed 250 volunteer hours in the elementary school ministry program. She attends NewPointe Community Church in Dover. Wiggs also participates in volleyball, basketball and track and is involved in Big Brothers Big Sisters. She has volunteered at Tiger youth basketball and volleyball camps, as well as NewPointe Community Church’s special needs dance and Impact Day.
Her attendants are classmates Kylie McKenzie and Violet Thomas.

McKenzie, the daughter of Josh and Missy McKenzie of Strasburg, serves as secretary of the National Honor Society, takes Kent State Tuscarawas College Credit Plus classes and is president of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. She is a member of the cross country, track and swim teams and maintains honor roll status. Her volunteer work includes the American Legion chicken barbecues, school book fair, Exceptional Olympics, blood drives, food banks and Big Brothers Big Sisters. She was a delegate to Buckeye Girls State and is a member of Strasburg St. John United Church of Christ.

Thomas, the daughter of Josh and Nancy Thomas of Strasburg, is vice president of the National Honor Society and a member of the speech and debate team and the school honor roll. She competes in volleyball and track, participates in Big Brothers Big Sisters and plays for the Impact Volleyball Club. A three-year state qualifier in speech and debate, she has volunteered at the Back to School Bash, Lions Club Egg Hunt, Exceptional Olympics and scholar challenge team, and she was also a delegate to Buckeye Girls State.
Each contestant wrote a 200-word essay on why they wanted to represent the Lions Club as Rose Queen. Wiggs received a $500 Larry Jones Memorial Scholarship, and her attendants each received a $200 scholarship. Eight students participated in the selection process.
The queen and her attendants will participate in the annual Halloween Parade, Christmas Parade and the Lions Club Egg Hunt in the spring, among other community events throughout the year.
A reception for Rose Queen Lyla Wiggs, attendants Kylee McKenzie and Violet Thomas, and their families will be held Nov. 13 at 6 p.m. at First Lutheran Church, 211 Eighth St. SW, Strasburg.
