League of Women Voters to host candidate forum in Dover Oct. 7
Board of Education, City Council and local tax issues among topics at voter event.
The League of Women Voters of Tuscarawas County invites all registered county voters to meet the candidates they will consider on the Nov. 4 ballot.Two events are scheduled: Sept. 29 at the Tuscarawas County Public Library, 121 Fair Ave., New Philadelphia, and Oct. 7 at the Dover Public Library, 525 N. Walnut St. Both sessions run from 6 to 7:30 p.m.In Dover, candidates for the Board of Education and City Council at-large have been invited to speak, along with representatives from the City of Dover and Dover Township to discuss property tax issues. Candidates will introduce themselves, share why they are running and take part in conversations with community members.In New Philadelphia, invited speakers include candidates for the Board of Education, representatives from New Philadelphia Schools to discuss the school bond issue and levy, the Tuscarawas County Public Library to discuss the library levy, and a representative from the Ohio Department of Commerce Division of Liquor Control to explain the beer and alcohol issue on the ballot.Candidates not on the speaking program are welcome to bring campaign materials and mingle with participants at the end of each event.The League also will again send questionnaires to candidates for inclusion in Vote411, the League’s online interactive voter guide.
