Larry Delawder Family to perform in Sugarcreek
The group is known for gospel music, harmonica playing and family-centered ministry
The Larry Delawder Family will bring music and ministry to Sugarcreek at 6 p.m. Sunday, March 8, at First United Church of Christ, 526 W. Main St., Sugarcreek.
Known for gospel music, harmonica playing and family-centered ministry, Larry Delawder has spent decades performing across the United States, Canada and beyond. His program also features his well-known impersonation of Barney Fife.
Delawder’s musical journey began at age 5 in ministry. Over the years, he has traveled and performed with several well-known gospel artists, including the Dixie Melody Boys and Gary McSpadden. He appeared on McSpadden’s television program, “Gospel Jubilee,” and has been featured on other television and radio programs. He also contributed to two Gaither Homecoming videos and performed in Branson, Missouri, in a variety of musical and comedy roles.
He has been named Instrumentalist of the Year seven times at the Singing News Fan Awards and received the Heart of America award for Instrumentalist of the Year. Delawder has produced multiple harmonica recordings, a vocal project and a live DVD.
Today, Delawder ministers alongside his family. His wife and daughters have joined him in full-time family ministry, sharing gospel music in churches and concerts. The family has recorded several projects, including hymn collections and original music available on streaming platforms.
