The Performing Arts Center at Kent State University at Tuscarawas has announced two new shows coming to New Philadelphia.

KC and The Sunshine Band will bring their disco and funk hits to the stage Thursday, Nov. 20, at 7:30 p.m. The international percussion sensation STOMP will return for two performances, Tuesday, April 28, and Wednesday, April 29, both at 7:30 p.m.

STOMP is known for its inventive use of everyday objects to create high-energy rhythms.

Formed in 1973, KC and The Sunshine Band helped define the disco era with chart-topping singles including “That’s the Way (I Like It),” “Get Down Tonight” and “(Shake, Shake, Shake) Shake Your Booty.” Led by founder Harry Wayne “KC” Casey, the group has sold more than 100 million records worldwide and continues to tour internationally. Their “Miami sound” blends Caribbean, R&B and funk influences and has been featured in films, television shows and national ad campaigns.

STOMP is known for its inventive use of everyday objects to create high-energy rhythms. The eight-member troupe uses everything from matchboxes and brooms to garbage cans and hubcaps, earning awards and rave reviews from audiences around the world. The Boston Globe called it “an unforgettable experience for audiences of all ages.”

Tickets for both shows start at $20 and are on sale at the Performing Arts Center box office, by calling 330-308-6400, or online at www.kent.edu/tuscpac. The box office is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
