Agricultural educators often devote countless hours — and, at times, their own resources — to prepare students for successful careers and to strengthen the communities they serve.
Taylor Ryan, an agricultural teacher at Indian Valley High School, was honored Feb. 26 as one of 10 finalists for the 2025-26 Ag Educator of the Year through the Golden Owl Award.
As a finalist, Ryan received a plaque in front of staff members and students. The Indian Valley FFA chapter will receive $1,500 to support future educational efforts.
Ryan will be eligible to be named Ohio’s Ag Educator of the Year this spring during the 98th Ohio FFA Convention. The winner will earn an additional $5,000 for the school’s agriculture program.
“Ohio is fortunate to have many outstanding ag teachers. We are pleased to recognize 10 honorees for their ongoing commitment to student success,” Amy Jo Baughman, executive director of the Ohio FFA Foundation, said. “This award brings together statewide industry partners and local school communities to recognize teachers for the exceptional work that they are doing to provide quality FFA experiences for students.”
From September through December 2025, the Golden Owl Award received 483 nominations for 129 teachers across Ohio from students, teachers and colleagues, parents and community members.
The Golden Owl Award is a partnership between Ohio FFA, Nationwide, Ohio Farm Bureau, Farm Credit Mid-America and AgCredit. More information is available at goldenowlaward.com.
