Age of Steam Roundhouse Museum to christen historic locomotive No. 19

The Age of Steam Roundhouse Museum announced a three-day celebration marking the grand christening of historic Steam Locomotive No. 19, to be held April 9-11. This special event will feature a public christening ceremony, train rides, roundhouse tours, an America 250-Ohio event, “Ohio Goes to the Movies,” and an exclusive evening photo shoot of No. 19.

Event schedule

Day One - Thursday, April 9: Grand Christening in Sugarcreek

No. 19 will make its way to the Village of Sugarcreek for a public celebration and christening.

5-7 p.m. - Public viewing of No. 19 in downtown Sugarcreek. 6 p.m. - Grand Christening Ceremony featuring remarks by the mayor of Sugarcreek, Age of Steam Roundhouse Museum officials, Genesee & Wyoming representatives, Tuscarawas County officials and Glen Holland, who will share the history of No. 19. 7 p.m. - Departure of No. 19 back to the Age of Steam Roundhouse Museum.

Day Two - Friday, April 10: Train rides, tours and movie night

Guests are invited to ride behind No. 19 on the museum grounds and enjoy guided roundhouse tours.

Train rides behind No. 19: 10:50 a.m., 11:50 a.m., 12:50 p.m., 1:50 p.m., 2:50 p.m., 3:50 p.m. (Tickets: $6) Roundhouse tours: 10 a.m., 11 a.m., noon, 1 p.m., 2 p.m. Regular tour pricing applies. Free movie presented by America 250-Ohio: “Ohio Goes to the Movies.” Details will be announced soon.

Day Three - Saturday, April 11: Train rides, tours and exclusive photo shoot

The festivities conclude with another day of rides, tours and a rare after-hours photography event.

Train rides behind No. 19: 10:50 a.m., 11:50 a.m., 12:50 p.m., 1:50 p.m., 2:50 p.m., 3:50 p.m. Roundhouse tours: 10 a.m., 11 a.m., noon, 1 p.m., 2 p.m. 6-10 p.m. - Exclusive photo shoot of No. 19 at the roundhouse. Photographers will enjoy premium access as the locomotive is staged in multiple scenes and locations. For more information, click here.

Tickets are required to be purchased before the photo shoot, as walk-up tickets will not be available. Tickets are limited, and this photo shoot is rain or shine.
