Lions clubs, Lake Local Schools honor standout students, staff and volunteers for November

Uniontown and Hartville Lions Clubs recognize excellence across Lake Elementary and Lake Middle/High School, naming monthly honorees for character, leadership and service.

The Lions Clubs of Uniontown and Hartville have joined forces to honor outstanding students, teachers, employees and volunteers of Lake Local Schools every month. Lake Local Board of Education President Adam Doane and Uniontown Lion Dr. John Thomas presented the awards at the Nov. 13 board meeting. Each honoree received a framed certificate commemorating the occasion and a gift certificate to local businesses. The Lions Club is a nonprofit service organization that raises funds for projects and activities to help make the community a better place.

Brogan Hickok, a third-grade pupil at Lake Elementary School, is the son of Wendy and Brian Hickok. Brogan works hard and always strives to do well and be the best he can be. He loves to challenge himself in all subjects and is always wanting to learn new things. Brogan leads by example and always does the right thing. He is a great role model for his peers and constantly lifts others up, helping classmates and displaying a positive attitude even when things are hard. He truly exemplifies what it means to be a Blue Streak.

Claire Hefner, a third-grade pupil at Lake Elementary School, is the daughter of Jaime and Darin Hefner. She is a conscientious, hard-working student who always strives to do her best. Even when she doesn’t understand something right away, she perseveres because she enjoys the academic challenge. Claire is an avid reader who has already exceeded her teacher’s goal and has mastered more than 109 third-grade IXL math skills. Staff and students have noticed Claire’s integrity in her actions and words. She has earned the respect of her classmates because she is kind-hearted, selfless and attentive to others in need.

Levi Wickham, a fifth-grade student at Lake Elementary School, is the son of Mallory and Andrew Wickham. He is an exceptionally bright and curious student with a natural talent for technology. Levi is an avid reader who enjoys exploring new ideas and stories. Beyond his academic strengths, he is a positive role model who is kind, respectful and always willing to help. His enthusiasm and leadership make the classroom a better place every day.

Charleigh Keller, a fifth-grade student at Lake Elementary School, is the daughter of Taylor and Sean Keller. She always has a smile on her face and is a positive force in the classroom. Charleigh participates in class, asks for help when needed and is always on task, ready to learn. She is a quiet leader and an excellent role model for her peers.

Anna Mosher, an eighth-grade student at Lake Middle/High School, is the daughter of Tim and Amelia Mosher. When you think of a model student, you think of Anna. She consistently approaches each day with a bright smile and a friendly attitude. In the classroom, she is a positive presence, always willing to help her peers and quick to volunteer. Anna is a vital member of the school community, serving as a respected Student Council representative and actively participating in Junior Service. She embodies what it means to be a “True Blue Streak.”

Declan Hoffman, an eighth-grade student at Lake Middle/High School, is the son of Stacy and Jason Hoffman. He demonstrates excellence both in and out of the classroom and consistently puts forth tremendous effort. His dedication has earned him the highest score in the class. Declan is also known for his character—treating everyone with kindness and respect and offering help whenever it is needed. Whether tackling difficult work, supporting a peer or modeling good citizenship, he does so with integrity and enthusiasm.

Abby Alcorn, a senior at Lake Middle/High School, is the daughter of Ed and Heather Alcorn. While Abby is very bright, she is especially impressive in how she treats others. Her warm smile and kind demeanor brighten people’s days. She looks for ways to make others feel valued and appreciated, whether by asking about their day or writing a thoughtful note.

James Caudill, a senior at Lake Middle/High School, is the son of Lisa and Brian Caudill. He consistently demonstrates excellence in and out of the classroom. He is dependable, always prepared and willing to help others. James approaches challenging problems with curiosity and insight. He works hard and puts in the effort needed to master new concepts, setting a strong example for his peers.

Teacher of the Month Emily Brislen, a third-grade language arts teacher at Lake Elementary School, is an outstanding educator who inspires her students every day. Her passion for teaching and her love of reading and writing shine through in everything she does. She creates an engaging, supportive classroom where students feel encouraged to express themselves and grow as learners. Her creativity, patience and dedication help students develop strong academic skills and a lifelong love of learning.

Employee of the Month Gwynne Dockery, head cook at Lake Elementary School, is the heart of the cafeteria and a treasured part of the school community. Each day she goes above and beyond to ensure students and staff receive nutritious meals served with a warm smile. Her dedication, creativity and kindness make lunchtime something everyone looks forward to. She lifts spirits, greets students by name and ensures everyone feels welcomed.

Volunteer of the Month Jaime Whitacre has been a parent volunteer with the Lake Middle/High School band program for more than a decade. She most recently served as chairperson of the patron and publicity committee and organized the annual band banquet for several years. She has also spent many nights on the sidelines at football games, riding buses to away games, working concessions and helping whenever needed. Now in her final year as a band parent, she leaves a legacy of commitment and cherished memories.
