Lake Schools to present ‘The Wizard of Oz’ musical
Performances April 16-19 will feature students from across the Lake Local School District
Lake Middle High School will present the Royal Shakespeare Company’s adaptation of The Wizard of Oz April 16-19 at the Lake Middle High School Performing Arts Hall.
The musical follows Dorothy Gale, who is swept away from her Kansas farm by a whirlwind and lands in the colorful land of Oz. Along her journey to find the great and powerful Wizard, she meets a Scarecrow searching for a brain, a Tin Man longing for a heart and a Cowardly Lion seeking courage. Together, they must face the Wicked Witch of the West and discover they may have had what they needed all along.
The production features songs from the classic MGM film, including “Over the Rainbow,” “Follow the Yellow Brick Road” and “We’re Off to See the Wizard.”
The show is a districtwide community effort featuring high school performers and instrumentalists along with Lake Elementary students.
Children attending the performances are invited to dress in costumes related to the show, and a costume parade will be held during intermission.
Performances are scheduled for 7 p.m. April 16-18 and 2 p.m. April 19.
In addition, Lake’s Project Connect performance – a free performance for the community featuring both casts – will take place at 11:15 a.m. April 15.
Tickets are $15 and will be available to the general public beginning March 20 through the Hometown Ticket app on the Lake Middle High School website. Tickets will also be available for purchase at the door before each performance.
