Marlington prom brings 'Gatsby' theme to Hall of Fame

The Marlington High School Class of 2027 officers and advisors hosted their junior-senior prom, themed “Great Gatsby,” on April 25 for a night of glitz and glamour at the Professional Football Hall of Fame in Canton.

Music was provided by DJ Smooth Beats Entertainment, and the coronation of the 2026 prom king and queen took place at 7:45 p.m. Carter Frank was named king and Ava Baum queen. Ava Baum is the daughter of Shana Pilla-Baum and Justin Baum. Ava was escorted by Carter Frank, the son of Sarah Smarr and Todd Frank. He is a member of Duke Crew, Character Counts Club, FCA, and the varsity basketball and track and field teams.

The Great Gatsby-themed prom brought the glamour and excitement of the 1920s to life with opulent décor, vintage fashion and a Jazz Age atmosphere. Gold, black and silver tones, sparkling accents and vintage jazz elements were used to create a ballroom setting. Some girls wore sparkling headbands, and there were a few bow ties seen.

Other members of the court were Lydia Duncan and Caden Dine. Lydia Duncan is the daughter of Jared and Melissa Duncan. She is a member of National Honor Society, Sources of Strength, Student Council and the varsity softball team. Lydia was escorted by Caden Dine, the son of David Dine and Dawn Butler. He is a member of National Honor Society, Sources of Strength, Duke Crew and the varsity football team.

Another pair of court members were Emma Foith and Braxton Gill. Emma Foith is the daughter of Joanne and Jason Foith. She is Class of 2026 president, Spanish Honor Society president, and a member of National Honor Society, Sources of Strength, Spanish Club, Character Counts Club, Drama Dukes, Duke Street and Chorale. Emma was escorted by Braxton Gill, the son of Melissa Martin. He is a member of the varsity soccer and tennis teams, Duke Street, Drama Dukes and Chorale.

Another court pair was Jocelyn Sutton and Andrew Hartzler. Jocelyn Sutton is the daughter of Seth and Jennifer Sutton. She is a member of National Honor Society, Duke Crew, varsity sideline and competition cheerleading, Chorale, Duchess Voices and Advanced Women’s Choir. Jocelyn was escorted by Andrew Hartzler, the son of Matt and Jen Hartzler. He is a member of National Honor Society, Character Counts Club and the varsity soccer team.

The final court pairing was Cali Young and Kaden Tucker. Cali Young is the daughter of Alyssa Win Young. She is a member of Sources of Strength, Student Council, Character Counts Club, FCA, a Duke Pound leader, and the varsity volleyball, flag football and track teams. Cali was escorted by Kaden Tucker, the son of Julie Ryan and Jason Tucker. He is National Honor Society president, Class of 2026 treasurer, vice president of Character Counts Club, and a member of the Stark Education Partnership Student Advisory Council, Drama Dukes, Yearbook Club and Chorale.
