Stark State College has appointed Dr. Laura Duda as vice president of strategy and engagement.
Duda joins the college following a career at The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co., where she most recently served as senior vice president and chief communications officer, leading global communications for nearly 70,000 employees across 47 countries.
In her new role, Duda will lead the college’s external strategy and engagement with regional employers, industry associations, workforce and economic development groups and community leaders. She will work closely with the president and leadership team to champion innovation, develop strategic direction and support the college’s mission of student access, student success and workforce development.
She will oversee the college’s Career Services and Workforce Development department and represent Stark State in regional, state and national initiatives that elevate its visibility and reinforce its role as a workforce partner.
“Laura brings extraordinary experience building trust, driving strategy and connecting organizations to the communities they serve,” said Dr. Para M. Jones, president of Stark State College. “Her leadership in a global enterprise and her deep connection to Northeast Ohio will enhance Stark State’s role as a vital workforce and economic engine for our region.”
Duda’s career includes leadership roles in corporate communications, public affairs and stakeholder engagement across the energy and higher education sectors. She earned a doctorate in leadership and learning in organizations at Vanderbilt University and holds an MBA and a master’s degree in mass communication.
“Stark State plays a critical role in preparing students for meaningful careers and helping employers build the talent pipeline they need in Northeast Ohio,” Duda said. “I am honored to join an institution and a team so deeply committed to student access and success, workforce alignment and community impact.”
Duda has also been active in regional civic and nonprofit leadership, including service with United Way of Summit & Medina, the Greater Akron Chamber, the Ohio & Erie Canalway Coalition and the Humane Society of Summit County.
She will begin her role April 13.
