Lake Lions honor students, staff and volunteer for March

Districtwide recognition highlights achievement, character and community impact

The Lions Clubs of Uniontown and Hartville have joined forces with Lake Local Schools to honor outstanding students, teachers, employees and volunteers each month. Lake Local Board of Education President Scot Nabors and a Lions Club representative presented the March awards at the March 16 Board of Education meeting. Each honoree received a framed certificate and a gift certificate to a local business. The Lions Club is a nonprofit service organization that raises funds for projects and activities to support the community.

Hadley Gadoury, a third-grade student at Lake Elementary School and daughter of Erin and Jason Gadoury, is new to the district this year but has quickly become a valued member of her classroom. She consistently demonstrates responsibility, respect and safety, arriving each day ready to learn. Hadley is compassionate, helpful and dependable, participating fully in class and always striving to do her best.

Noah Williams, also a third-grade student at Lake Elementary and son of Stephanie and Samuel Williams, brings a positive attitude and strong work ethic to school each day. Though quiet at times, Noah has a great sense of humor and builds strong relationships with both peers and teachers. He is dedicated to his schoolwork and serves as a positive role model in the classroom.

Brielle McCutcheon, a fifth-grade student and daughter of Janelle and Josh McCutcheon, is known for her exceptional work ethic and leadership. She consistently goes above and beyond in her studies, often taking on additional learning opportunities. Brielle is also a kind and inclusive leader who works well with classmates and supports others in their learning.

Fellow fifth-grader Trent Freidhoff, son of Victoria and Christopher Freidhoff, is recognized for his determination and perseverance. He approaches challenges with a “can-do” attitude and is always prepared for class. Trent is organized, focused and consistently demonstrates kindness and teamwork, making him a strong role model among his peers.

At Lake Middle/High School, eighth-grader Ava Nixon, daughter of Jenna Waterhouse and Jeremy Nixon, was honored for her strong academic performance and positive character. She is a supportive teammate who promotes respect and good sportsmanship, encouraging others both in and out of the classroom.

Eighth-grade student Bennett Beachy, son of Whitney and Dan Beachy, was also recognized for his responsibility, integrity and reliability. Bennett consistently completes his work, follows expectations and treats others with respect. His steady improvement and commitment make him a valued member of the school community.

Among the high school honorees, senior Noelle Leonelli, daughter of Mary and Eric Leonelli, was recognized for her academic dedication and involvement in activities such as cross country and ski club. She balances her responsibilities well and contributes positively to class discussions while supporting her classmates.

Senior Riley Shank, son of Heather Shank, was honored for his strong academic performance and engagement in the classroom. Riley is an inquisitive learner who asks thoughtful questions and demonstrates strong critical-thinking skills. He is also known for his kindness and willingness to help others.

Teacher of the Month Bill Buckerfield, a government teacher at Lake Middle/High School, was recognized for his lasting impact on students and the school community. Known for his energy and dedication, Buckerfield not only excels in the classroom but is also a constant presence at school events, supporting students in academics, athletics and activities. His commitment to building relationships and caring for students is widely recognized.

Sue Hall, head cook at Lake Primary School, was named Employee of the Month. She is known for creating a welcoming environment in the cafeteria, where she greets students by name and ensures they feel cared for. Beyond preparing meals, Hall supports students in many ways, from helping with personal needs to offering encouragement each day.

Volunteer of the Month Andrew Wickham was honored for his leadership in establishing Lake Schools’ Rock ’Em Robotics Booster Club. As president, he helped organize and host one of the largest VEX IQ Robotics tournaments in Ohio, welcoming 65 teams. His efforts have strengthened the robotics program and created new opportunities for students.

Through this monthly recognition program, the Lions Clubs and Lake Local Schools continue to celebrate individuals who demonstrate excellence, leadership and a commitment to their community.
