Northeast Ohio hiking journalist Diane Stresing will visit Stark Library’s Lake Community Branch on Tuesday, Oct. 7, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., offering a presentation based on her popular guide 60 Hikes within 60 Miles.

In her talk, Stresing will spotlight regional trails and share tips for planning outings that range from casual walks to more ambitious treks. She’ll draw from her experience researching and writing all four editions of 60 Hikes within 60 Miles of Cleveland, a project she regards as her favorite work.

During the free event, attendees may purchase copies of 60 Hikes within 60 Miles and have them signed by the author. The program, targeted to adults and older readers, welcomes anyone interested in hiking, Ohio nature or travel writing.

Stresing, a longtime freelance writer and content manager, also authored Dumb Things We Say to Dogs, a collection of essays about hiking, life and her humorous interactions with her pets. She often speaks to schools and libraries on topics including narrative writing, travel writing, and connecting creative work with the natural world.

Her move to Northeast Ohio in 1989 sparked an appreciation for Northeast Ohio's landscapes, inspiring her to showcase the  region as rich in natural beauty and community spirit.
