Hartville council reviews strategic plan update
Officials discuss reorganizing zoning book for easier updates and public review
During the regular meeting March 9, the Village of Hartville Council heard an update on the village’s Strategic Plan. Council members said the zoning book will be discussed with Stark County officials this week.
Council members suggested the book be separated into sections such as planning, signs, buildings or downtown. Officials said it would be easier to review and update the document by section as needed and would also make it easier for the public to review. Public review would take place by section rather than the book as a whole.
Mayor Cynthia Billings commented, “Reviewing the planning book is so overwhelming that it is hard to work on, and it takes so long.”
Council members agreed that feedback may be better because the public would likely review one section at a time instead of the entire zoning book.
In other business, council set a time and date for a Board of Zoning Appeals meeting at 6:30 p.m. March 26 on a variance request for signage for the Cleveland Clinic at 876 W. Maple St.
Council’s next regular meeting is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. March 23 at Village Hall, located at 202 W. Maple St. Meetings are also livestreamed on Facebook and can be viewed at www.facebook.com/VillageofHartville/.
