The leaves are changing color, fall is coming and so is Coshocton’s annual Scarecrow Town.

Scarecrow Town has been an annual tradition at Clary Gardens and in Coshocton since 2016. Mary McMullen said Clary Gardens invites community members and local businesses to construct scarecrow scenes all over town and on the Clary Gardens walking trail during September and October.

“The Scarecrow Town Contest is hosted on the Scarecrow Town Facebook page. The contest categories for this year are Local Legend, Most Inventive, Creative Storytelling, Creepiest, Pop Culture, Traditional and People’s Choice,” McMullen said.

There will be first place through third place in each category, and the scarecrows will be judged by a panel of community members.

“The community is encouraged to follow the page and like the photos of their favorite scenes,” McMullen said. “The photos with the most likes will be placed in People’s Choice. Contest winners will receive a framed certificate with a picture of their scene and their category placement.

“Scarecrow Town is a fantastic activity to bring the community together and creates enjoyment for all ages. It also encourages people to get outside and explore Coshocton and Clary Gardens. Fall is such a beautiful time of year here in Coshocton, and Scarecrow Town is a fun way to enjoy it. With the entry cost being a bag of candy for the trail and treat, it helps support another family-friendly event in our town.”
