Camden Swigert realized he wanted to be a barber when he was 16 years old. He started helping his dad cut his hair and then began to talk his friends into letting him cut their hair. On April 1 he opened 740 Barber Co. at 1517 Chestnut St., Suite 6.

“Ed and Susan Myers did a fantastic job turning this old school into a thriving apartment complex with business suites,” Swigert said. “I’ve been cutting hair since I was 16 but have been an officially licensed barber for almost two years.

"By the time I was a senior at Coshocton High School, I realized I had a talent for cutting hair and could make this a career. I attended Prince's Barber Academy in Zanesville for a little less than a year, but most of my learning came from self-teaching or mentors in my life like Tyler McKee, owner of The Mancave in Warsaw.”

When choosing a name for his new shop, Swigert realized he didn’t need his name on the company.

“I was known as Cams2Clean for years, and I loved it. But I believe that putting your community over yourself is important; 740 is the area code for the community that made me,” he said. “I’ve lived in Coshocton my whole entire life. I want to give a huge shoutout to my parents, Tiffany and Geno Swigert. They have been the biggest influences on my life. Thank you. I love you guys.

“I’ve always known I wanted my own barbershop, but it’s also scary to start something new in a smaller town that already has amazing barbershops, so I started at McKee’s Mancave, and I believe that was the perfect route to get my feet wet in this industry.”

740 Barber Co. specializes in men’s haircuts. “We do everything from fades, tapers, burst fades to beard trims and straight razor shaves," he said.

The shop will take walk-ins if they can be fit in, but you can make appointments on the Square Go app, or the link to book is on the shop Facebook page.

Swigert encourages everyone to follow the 740 Barber Co. on Facebook and Instagram to be updated on shop progress and giveaways. “We love giving back to the amazing people of this community,” he said.
