The Coshocton County Animal Shelter and HATA would like to share that thanks to donations from the Bache Estate and memorial contributions made in memory of Christina Sturtz, Coshocton County residents are eligible to get their dog, cat or community cats spayed or neutered for $30. Animals also will receive a rabies vaccine if needed.

To qualify for this price, you must be a Coshocton County resident. The owned animals must be at least 3 months old and a minimum of 3 pounds. Dogs must be under 60 pounds and only one dog and cat per household.

“As we enter our spring and summer intake season, we are hopeful to prevent even more unwanted litters with this incredibly cheap promotion made possible in the memory of two animal lovers, Christina and Mary," said Haley Sturtz, director of the animal shelter. "As we continue to dedicate so much energy to placing those who enter here, we hope that this promotion reduces the number of unwanted pets, street cats and suffering litters.

“Spay and neuter is our only hope to reduce space-related euthanasia in shelters and preventing the suffering of the many unwanted cats and strays roaming our community. Spay and neuter is not just about population control, however. It also prevents different cancers in your pet, curbs behavioral issues in young male animals, reduces instances of territory marking, and so many positive results follow. There are so many reasons to do the responsible and right thing, and we are proud to make that even more accessible at a low rate to the community we proudly serve.”

The Alter Clinic transport picks up and drops off animals at the animal shelter on Morgan Run Road. This special price is for February, March and April transports only. The $30 must be paid to schedule the appointment, and appointments cannot be made online.

To schedule an appointment, call 234-804-3064 to be put on the transport list. A coordinator will call you back closer to the date and schedule your appointment, take your payment and finalize details. No appointment will be scheduled without payment. If you do not show up or cancel within 24 hours of your appointment time, your deposit will be forfeited.

This is a first come, first served opportunity, and space is limited. Once the limit has been reached, a wait list will be started for possible cancellations. Any services beyond the spay/neuter and a rabies vaccine will be the responsibility of the owner.
