BPW members hear from Slater Family Farm

Animal-assisted outreach program shares its mission with Coshocton BPW as members celebrate milestone birthday and plan holiday events

Isabella "Bella" Slater and Serenity Lipps explained how interacting with the animals from Slater Family Farm Outreach was beneficial to them.

Coshocton Business and Professional Women met Nov. 17 at Windsorwood Place with Mary Beth Slater from Slater Family Farm Outreach as the program speaker. She is a 2024 Joan McNeely Working Woman Scholarship recipient.

Slater Family Farm Outreach provides animal-assisted services and therapeutic programs, on-site visits, and mobile outreach to locations like schools, nursing homes and churches. Its mission is to reach minds, bodies and spirits through animal-assisted services for those in the community.

Serenity Lipps and Bella Slater explained how interacting with the animals is beneficial to them. For more information check their Facebook page. Volunteers are always welcome.

A light dinner was prepared by Liz Herrell to celebrate the 94th birthday of her mom, member Jean Sharier. President Katie Hultz made cupcakes. Vice President Sheila Mayse and new member Katie Snyder made Tootsie Roll Pop bouquets centerpieces. Tootsie Roll Pops were developed in 1931 — the year Sharier was born.

Coshocton BPW will meet Monday, Dec. 15 at 6 p.m. at The Presbyterian Church for a Christmas party. Mayse will prepare a pasta bar and dessert as her gift to the local. There will be an optional $20 gift exchange. Hultz will provide cookies for the members to decorate.

Coshocton BPW membership is open to both women and men, employed or unemployed, in the local community. Meetings are held the third Monday at 6 p.m. at various locations with service projects, social activities, opportunities for civic participation, and opportunities for personal and professional growth. Opportunities for engagement include local, state and national participation in the organization.

Anyone interested in learning more about Coshocton BPW is encouraged to email Membership Chair Pat Talbot at CoshlBPW@gmail.com. Interested individuals also may call or text Mayse at 740-502-3047.
