Magdelyn Asire is a communication major, with minors in international studies and marketing at Bowling Green State University. She will spend several months studying at Yonsei University in Seoul, South Korea and is seeking donations to help make this dream come true.

“What began as a simple curiosity about Korean culture and media slowly grew into a dream of experiencing life in another country,” Asire said. “As I moved forward in my studies, I realized how important it was for me to step outside my comfort zone and see the world beyond what I had always known.”

Asire said studying abroad is more than just an academic opportunity. “It is a chance for personal growth, independence and discovering who I am.”

She said she is nervous about leaving home and learning about a new culture. She also is very grateful and excited for the opportunity to grow and create lifelong memories.

She chose communication as her major because she has always been fascinated by how people connect with each other and share ideas.

“There is something amazing about understanding how messages travel through media, marketing or everyday conversation and the impact they have on people’s lives,” she said.

She believes adding international studies and marketing is a good fit.

“International studies help me see the world through different perspectives and cultures while marketing shows how ideas can inspire and influence people,” she said. “I have cared about these fields for a long time, but my passion has really grown in college. Studying abroad in Korea is not just an exciting opportunity; it is a way for me to live what I have been learning, to experience the culture firsthand, and to grow both personally and professionally.

“To help make this dream possible, I am fundraising and accepting donations through Cash App and Venmo.”

She has been using a mix of personal fundraising and reaching out to the community for support. The donations will help cover tuition, housing and travel expenses. Her contact information is @masire2, 740-294-0485 or masire2@yahoo.com.
