Waynesburg to kick off holidays with parade, tree lighting Nov. 29

Evening celebration features village parade, carols, Santa visits, hayrides and ‘Light Up Waynesburg’ decorating contest

All community members are invited to participate, and those feeling festive are encouraged to decorate their cars or floats.

The Village of Waynesburg will welcome the Christmas season Saturday, Nov. 29, with its annual Waynesburg Village Christmas Parade and Tree Lighting Ceremony at the village square.

The parade will begin at 6 p.m., with lineup at 5:30 p.m. at St. James School. The route will start at St. James, continue up Lisbon Street, and end at the Legion Hall. All community members are invited to participate, and those feeling festive are encouraged to decorate their cars or floats.

After the parade, St. James students will sing Christmas carols at the tree on the square before the official tree lighting. The Waynesburg Historical Society will serve hot chocolate, and Santa Claus will be on hand to greet children.

Evening entertainment will continue with a performance by Extreme Dance Force at 7 p.m. on the square, followed by more visits with Santa at 7:15 p.m. and village hayrides from 7:30 to 9 p.m.

Judging for decorated homes and businesses in the village will take place Friday, Nov. 29, beginning at 7 p.m. Organizers encourage all residents to participate and help “Light Up Waynesburg.”
