Modranski takes helm of commissioners board for 2026

The presidency change is an annual tradition commissioners continue

Carroll County Commissioners voted Chris Modranski as the 2026 president of the board. Modranski will pick up where Commissioner Donald Leggett II leaves off at the Jan. 5 meeting. Commissioner Robert Wirkner will serve as vice president. The presidency change is an annual tradition commissioners continue.

“I just want to thank Leggett for his year of leadership and dedication to the board,” said Modranski. “I look forward to continuing this in 2026.”

In an unrelated matter, commissioners approved the following people to the Carroll County Cybersecurity Committee, retroactive to Dec. 1, 2025, through Dec. 31, 2026: Commissioner Robert E. Wirkner; Auditor Staci Brady, with an alternate to be determined; Health Commissioner Kelly Morris, with Amy Campbell as alternate; IT Consultant Jason Rutledge, with Chase Knode as alternate; and Melissa Schaar, clerk.

Commissioners also approved Resolution No. 2025-35 and adopted the Carroll County Cybersecurity Program.

In other business, commissioners: 

—APPROVED the Carroll County Board of Commissioners’ 2026 meeting dates for Mondays and Thursdays at 9 a.m. unless otherwise noted. 

—APPROVED sending a letter to the Ohio Department of Development Office of Community Enhancements advising that the county understands the requirements for the Program Year 2025 Community Housing Impact and Preservation Program. 

—WAIVED a hearing for a liquor permit for Highlander Hospitality Group Inc., doing business as Sail N Power Grill, located at 1601 Magnolia Road SW, Unit B, Monroe Township, Dellroy. 

—APPROVED the bills of $17,975.
