The Minerva varsity volleyball team picked up a 3-1 victory over
Steubenville, overcoming a first-set loss to win three straight and close out
the match.
The Lions dropped the opening set 23-25 but bounced back with a 25-13 win in
the second. Minerva kept the momentum rolling with a 25-16 win in the third set
before sealing the match with a 25-17 victory in the fourth.
Ayla Shellenbarger powered the offense with 24 kills to go along with 10
points, five aces and 20 digs. Becca Jackson turned in a strong all-around
performance with 14 kills, seven points, three aces, two blocks and a team-high
23 digs. Emma Catlett added nine kills, six points and one ace.
The win boosts Minerva’s record as the Lions continue early-season play.
