Minerva will celebrate Small Business Saturday Nov. 29, a day dedicated to recognizing and supporting the local businesses that create jobs, strengthen the economy, and keep the community vibrant.
A variety of Minerva businesses will offer discounts, giveaways, door prizes, activities and more. Maps listing all participating businesses, along with their hours and special offers, will be available at those locations and on the Minerva Area Chamber of Commerce Facebook page. The first customer at each participating business will receive a goody bag filled with information and treats.
Participating businesses include Grinders Above & Beyond, Habitat for Humanity East Central Ohio ReStore, Kishman’s IGA, Sandy Springs Brewing Company, Walker’s Café, Rae’s Jewelry, Market Street Art Spot, Minerva Music Center, Que Pasa, The Komfort Zone, Tropical Paradise Pet Store, Vintage Home by IlluminArt, Market Street Mercantile, Crosspoint Barber Shop, Simply Scarves & Such, The Clever Cookie & Creamery, Art on 30 Gallery & Gift Shop, The Mystical Hollow, Chic Haven Boutique, John’s Bakery & Café, The Normandy Inn, Minerva Public Library, Heaven Sent Pies, Heritage at Great Trail, Krackpots Comedy Club and Tipsy Farmer Winery.
Anyone who visits at least six participating businesses between Nov. 29 and Dec. 6, gets their map stamped or signed, and returns it to the Minerva Chamber office by Dec. 12 will be entered into a drawing for prizes donated by Christina at Crosspoint Barber Shop, Minerva Public Library, Heritage Tire & Auto Care and others.
Shopping at local stores, dining in locally owned restaurants and supporting area financial institutions, farmers and home-based businesses benefit the community in many ways. Studies show that as much as three times more money spent at locally owned businesses stays in the local economy compared to dollars spent at chain stores.
Small businesses create jobs, give Minerva its distinctive character and foster a sense of community. Local business owners also support schools, athletics, organizations, events and those in need through fundraisers and donations—often choosing to “do the right thing,” even when it doesn’t maximize profit.
