Carrollton school property auction rescheduled
Jan. 14 school ground auction changed to Feb. 10
The auction of school property where the former Carrollton elementary and high school buildings stood has been rescheduled from Jan. 14 to Feb. 10 due to a conflict with the auctioneer’s schedule.
School officials said the land auction will be held at 5 p.m. ahead of the regular Feb. 10 Board of Education meeting in the Bell-Herron Gymnasium on Third Street NE in Carrollton.
The eight parcels, including two lots totaling about 5.765 acres, will be sold individually. The entire tract will then be offered as a single parcel, Superintendent David Davis said.
Terms of the sale require cash, a certified check or a cashier’s check for $10,000, payable to the Carrollton Board of Education, from the highest bidder as security for faithful performance if the bid is accepted. The balance will be due in full at closing.
The sale will not be final until accepted by resolution of the Board of Education.
Demolition of the two school buildings began last August and was completed in October by Gary Moderalli Excavating Inc. of Youngstown at a cost of $821,164.40.
The property is zoned RS-3.
