Carrollton FFA honors first-year members at Greenhand Ceremony
Chapter recognizes 30 new agriculture students, welcomes 2025–26 officer team and highlights early leadership development
The Carrollton FFA Chapter recognized 30 first-year agriculture students enrolled in Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources during its annual Greenhand Ceremony Nov. 12, held in conjunction with the November FFA Chapter meeting.
The Greenhand Degree is the first in a series of awards given to FFA members enrolled in agricultural education. To earn the degree, students must have plans for a supervised agricultural experience program and demonstrate knowledge of the FFA creed, emblem, colors and history. Additional requirements include participation in chapter activities, maintaining a satisfactory scholastic record and submitting a written application for the degree.
Guest speaker and state FFA reporter Austin Manning served as the evening’s featured presenter. Manning addressed the students, presented the Greenhand Degree candidates and issued their pins during the ceremony.
Greenhand Degree recipients included Bralyn Applegarth, Jocelynn Burkhart, Caiden Cattrell, Livian Cutshall, Levi Dickerhoof, Kamryn George, Allie Harvey, Carter James, Kara Jellick, Sarah Kampfer, Blaine Keane, Madisyn Kramer, Madelyn Krause, Taylor Krause, Kelsey Wade, Lucinda Lewis, Haylee Lucas, Jade Matthews, Jaxon Miller, Kade Miller, Hunter Neininger, Mallaree Palmer, Leland Powell, Brooklynn Rohr, Emilee Shepherd, Sebastian Shofter, Kaylynn Smith, Olin Teeter, Ellis Ujcich and Savannah Weller.
Officers for the 2025-26 school year were also introduced: Logan Pridemore, president; Haley Leslie, secretary; Claire Eshler, treasurer; Kendall George, reporter; Emma Vrsan, historian; Gwen Sargeant, sentinel; Lauren Worth, chaplain; and Hannah Little, consultant. Advisors are Lisa Watson Davis and Ryan Borland.
The program included the introduction of officers, opening and closing ceremonies, old and new business, a presentation on the Blue Jacket Program, the Greenhand Degree ceremony and the FFA creed recitation by Kamryn George.
