Carrollton Village Council hears police and fire reports at the brief Oct. 27 meeting

Police Chief Tim Timberlake reported there were 321 calls for service. These included seven crashes, one of which involved a possible injury stemming from a road rage incident. There was one warrant arrest, one OVI, two assaults, two threats or harassment cases, two child endangerment cases involving the same family within four days and one obstruction arrest.

Timberlake also addressed a report of a school bus accident earlier in the day but said that, from what he understood, there were no injuries and all the children were safe.

Fire Chief Shane Thomas reported the department responded to 24 total incidents during the reporting period, bringing the year-to-date total to 282 calls. These incidents included a mix of fires, rescues, medical calls, lift assists, hazardous conditions and service calls, with no false alarms and no severe weather-related incidents recorded.

The fire chief noted that none of the fires were serious, meaning there were no major property losses or injuries.

Staffing updates were also discussed. The department recently hired two young men within the last couple of weeks, with plans to bring on a few more recruits soon. Thomas expressed optimism about the increase in interest from younger individuals joining the department, viewing it as a positive development for the team’s future.
