Carroll County commissioners elect Modranski as president

Commissioners adopt multiple resolutions, all passing unanimously

Carroll County Commissioners held its first new-year meeting Jan. 5 with Chris Modranski as board president.

The commissioners then adopted multiple resolutions, all passing unanimously. These included increasing the county mileage reimbursement rate from $0.70 to $0.725 per mile in accordance with IRS standards retroactive to Jan. 1; approving participation in the ODOT Cooperative Purchasing Program; authorizing the county engineer to use force-account labor for road work; approving a cooperative agreement for 2026 engineering projects; and directing the engineer to determine bridge load capacities and post warning notices where necessary.

In other business, commissioners:

—HEARD Commissioner Don Leggett II thanked the maintenance department for their hard work on snow removal for the past couple of weeks and for coming in over the holidays as well to make sure the parking lots and sidewalks were clear.

—HEARD Prosecutor Barnett has appointed Marilyn Wells as the new director of the Child Support Enforcement Agency. Commissioner Modranski said the previous director, Shelley Martin, retired in early December 2025.

—HEARD Merle Long, dog warden, filed his report for the last week showing zero dogs impounded, two adopted out, zero redeemed, one euthanized for illness and no citations.
