Carroll County commissioners approve school transit contract, shift funds

Sonja Trbovich, transit director, appeared before the board to present her new contract with Carrollton Exempted Village Schools. Trbovich advised that the contract price increased from $2.50 per mile to $2.97 per mile.

The contract was approved between Transit and Carrollton Exempted Village Schools for service in effect Aug. 18, 2025, through June 30, 2026.

Also approved was the adjustment of the remaining $106,000 of the $212,000 appropriated to an account to be placed in the Children Services Fund to comply with reporting procedures set up for all Public Children Services agencies by Amended Substitute House Bill 166, as recommended by Jennifer Burns, JFS director.

In other business, commissioners:

—PAID bills of $123,482.82.

—APPOINTED Commissioner Chris Modranski to the OneOhio Region 11 Board, and Melissa N. Schaar, clerk, as the alternate to Modranski on the OneOhio Region 11 Board.

—HEARD Modranski say school will start this week, wished everyone a safe year, and reminded residents to pay attention to buses and school traffic.

—HEARD Commissioner Donald Leggett II say there were issues with the air conditioning in the jail over the weekend. Leggett said it did not get fixed and that it has a bad coil that will hopefully get fixed later on Aug. 18. He said the unit is 25 years old and he’ll be checking into a grant to get it updated.
