Beacon Charitable Pharmacy expands services to Carrollton residents
Rotary Club hears from CEO LaTrice Snodgrass on mission to provide free prescriptions, clinics and education
The Carrollton Rotary Club meeting Sept. 23 at St. John’s Villa Restaurant featured Dr. LaTrice Snodgrass, chief executive officer of Beacon Charitable Pharmacy, as guest speaker.
Beacon Charitable Pharmacy, located at 2525 13th St. NW in Canton, is the only charitable pharmacy in Northeast Ohio. It recently extended operations into Carrollton, offering a clinic every other week at the Carroll County Health Department. Plans are also underway for a presence at the Mobile Food Pantry, which meets monthly in the Church of Christ parking lot on Moody Avenue, and possibly during Loaves and Fishes Food Pantry distribution times.
A registered pharmacy in Ohio, Beacon fills prescriptions at no cost to qualified individuals based on household income, supported by local charitable donations and state funding. Since its founding in 2002, Beacon has dispensed more than 325,000 prescriptions valued at over $37 million. Its mission is to ensure vulnerable residents have access to critical medications, vaccinations and education.
Snodgrass emphasized the organization’s reliance on donations, noting that unexpired prescription and nonprescription medications can be donated. The Carroll County Health Department can collect these items. For more information, contact Beacon at 330-455-1087 or the Carroll County Health Department at 330-627-4866.
