Students honor first responders during St. Michael’s Day celebration
Immaculate Conception School recognizes law enforcement, firefighters and military with prayer service and music
Immaculate Conception School hosted its annual St. Michael’s Day celebration Monday, Sept. 29, honoring law enforcement, firefighters, first responders and members of the military.
A prayer service was held in the church, with Fr. Jeff Coning and several sixth graders reading from Scripture. Coning closed the service with a blessing and prayer, while the school’s Ave Maria Choir led the music.
Representatives from the Dennison Fire Department, Uhrichsville Fire and Police departments, and the Ohio Highway Patrol Post in New Philadelphia attended. In total, 12 honored guests were recognized.
Following the service, guests were treated to patriotic cookies and received St. Mary’s Blue Waves hats in the school cafeteria. The Ave Maria Choir closed the event with a song dedicated to first responders. Students also made cards, visited with guests and posed for photos.
