Spooky 1-Mile Fun Run set for Oct. 13 at Buckeye Career Center
Tusc Better Together will host its Spooky 1-Mile Fun Run on Monday, Oct. 13, at Buckeye Career Center, 545 University Drive NE.
The family-friendly event is open to all ages and abilities, with proceeds benefiting the Tusc Better Together Committee, which supports the Tuscarawas County Board of Developmental Disabilities and its programs.
Check-in begins at 4:30 p.m., with the run starting at 5:15 p.m. along the scenic biddy trail, marked by two inflatable ghosts. Afterward, participants can celebrate until 6:30 p.m. with food trucks, vendors, music, dancing and activities.
Participants are encouraged to come in costume. Halloween outfits or fun spooky attire are welcome, but extremely scary costumes, fake weapons, fake blood and horror effects are discouraged to ensure accessibility for those with sensory sensitivities.
Registration is $30 per person and includes a T-shirt and race entry. Community members can sign up online at bit.ly/spookyfunrun.
“This event is a great opportunity for families, friends, and community members to come together, celebrate the season, and support programs that make a real difference for individuals with developmental disabilities,” said event coordinator Kerri Silverthorn.
Tusc Better Together is a nonprofit community group supporting TuscBDD and people with developmental disabilities through programs such as Early Intervention, the Starlight School and Case Management.
