The Oct. 21 meeting of Port Washington Council was a brief one, mostly focused on streets, a resident request and some announcements.
In his report to council, Street Supervisor Tim Bryant said 13 tons of dirt were used to complete the sidewalk area in the village park. Bryant thanked Mayor Tom Gardner, DJ Meek, administrative assistant, and Bryant’s wife and daughter for helping with the project.
Additionally, Bryant reported he has been cold patching pot holes and trimming trees throughout the village. He also said the salt spreader has been installed on the village truck in preparation for the winter.
In the public portion of the meeting, resident Jeff McDonald said he noticed Asplundh Tree Service was in town performing work for AEP. He said a rotted tree on his property line needs to be taken down instead of trimmed as it is likely to come down on power lines in the event of high winds. Gardner said he will check with the company to see about removing the tree to avoid any interruption of power service.
Fiscal Officer Darissa Lute said she will be taking the Ohio Sunshine Laws online training. Council voted to appoint Lute the designee for Garner, Council President Joe Bourne, and Council members Brandie Bourne, Nate Penrod, Steve Adams, John Little and Ed Steffeck.
Gardner issued a reminder about Trick or Treat Oct. 31 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. and said the Delaware Fire Department will be open distributing candy and serving doughnut holes and cider.
Port Washington Council meetings are held on the first and third Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m. at Village Hall. All meetings are open to the public.
