No OVI arrests made at Dover sobriety checkpoint

The Ohio State Highway Patrol’s New Philadelphia Post conducted an OVI checkpoint Aug. 22 on state Route 39 at milepost 12 in Dover, stopping nearly 300 vehicles but making no impaired driving arrests.

Troopers said 298 vehicles passed through the checkpoint during its operation. To minimize inconvenience, motorists were delayed an average of about 30 seconds.

Two drivers were diverted for field sobriety testing, but no OVI arrests resulted. One driver in the area was cited for driving without a license.
