Fairless board honors athletes, approves contracts and personnel changes
The middle school cross country team won the state championship
The Fairless Board of Education recognized several cross country athletes and two classified staff members during its Nov. 18 meeting.
Superintendent Mike Hearn said the middle school cross country team won the state championship and that Brice Fuller was the Division III boys state cross country champion. Fuller was also a member of the boys cross country state qualifiers along with Andrew Hearn and Bradlee Keehn. Hearn finished sixth and Keehn finished 24th. The girls team had two state qualifiers, Adelyn Peterson and Ashton Vincent.
Shane Hetherington, who placed fourth at the state competition, and Gail Indorf were recognized as state qualifiers for the Bus Road-E-O.
The board rescinded the assistant softball coaching contract for Kaitlyn Davis, effective immediately, and later in the meeting hired Davis as head softball coach.
The board also did the following:
– Approved a three-year transportation routing software agreement with Transfinder at a cost of $18,070.
– Approved the purchase of a Ventrac tractor, mowing deck and related accessories at an estimated cost of $38,000 through Mast-Lepley Turf.
– Gave approval for an out-of-state trip to New York City from Nov. 20–28 for participation in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.
– Accepted the resignation of Kassidy Swiger as lead teacher effective Nov. 7. She will continue as a second-grade teacher.
– Gave approval to a one-year probationary contract to Andrew Getz, custodian, effective Nov. 10.
– Issued a one-year probationary classified four-hour cook contract to Amy Combs, effective Nov. 17.
– Approved Adam Smith and Megan Zenk as workers at athletic events.
– Approved indoor track coaches Ben Russell, Krista Doane, Pamela Gerig and Seth Peterson for the 2025–26 school year.
– Granted one-year supplemental contracts to non-district employees Elizabeth Birkbeck, assistant varsity softball, and Logan Berresford, volunteer wrestling.
