Library plans festive December with storytimes, crafts, clubs and a Noon Year’s Eve celebration

The Holmes County District Public Library has a full schedule of programs planned for December, offering activities for children, teens and adults. For more information or to register, visit the library or call 330-674-5972.
The month will begin with the Christmas edition of the Art Buffet Dec. 1 from 1-3 p.m. Teens and tweens are invited to drop in and explore a variety of mediums and projects including wood burning, leather stamping, bracelet making, Perler bead crafts, ornament making, string art and cookie decorating.
Growing Readers Storytime at the Holmes Central Library will be held Dec. 5, 12 and 19 at 10:30 a.m. Children age 2-5 and their parents or caregivers can hear stories, songs, rhymes and more. Little Learners Playgroup will follow at 11 a.m. on the same dates, offering playtime and hands-on activities to help promote reading and social skills for children up to age 5. Snacks will be provided.

Storytime at the Killbuck Library will take place Dec. 2, 9 and 16 at 10:30 a.m. for children age 2-5 and their parents or caregivers.
The Adult Book Club at the Holmes Central Library will meet Dec. 9 at 1 p.m. to discuss "The Borrowed Life of Frederick Fife" by Anna Johnston. Copies of the book are available at the Holmes Central Library.
Paws to Read will return Dec. 13 from 11 a.m. to noon at the Holmes Central Library in the children's department, where children can read to therapy dogs from Caring Therapy Canines.
The library’s Winter Reading Program for kids, teens and adults will run Jan. 5 through Feb. 28. Participants can track their reading for a chance to win prizes. Registration will open Monday, Dec. 29.
Winter Break Fun at the Holmes Central Library will take place Dec. 29-31 and Jan. 2-3. Families can visit the children’s department for art activities such as drawing, coloring, chalk art and beaded snowflakes, along with board games and kinetic sand play.
The month will wrap up with a Noon Year’s Eve Party Dec. 31 at 11 a.m. at the Holmes Central Library. Children and their families can help ring in the new year with activities, games, crafts and a balloon drop when the clock strikes noon.
