Holmes County District Public Library offers full slate of September events

The Holmes County District Public Library will offer several programs in July.

The Holmes County District Public Library announced a variety of programs and events for September.

Story time will be offered at several locations for children age 2-5 with an adult. Sessions will take place at the Killbuck Library on Tuesdays at 10:30 a.m. on Sept. 2, 9, 16, 23 and 30; at the East Branch Library on Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m. on Sept. 3, 10, 17 and 24; and at the Central Library on Fridays at 10:30 a.m. on Sept. 5, 12, 19 and 26. Each program includes stories, songs, rhymes and activities.

The Little Learners Playgroup will meet at the Central Library on Fridays at 11 a.m. on Sept. 5, 12, 19 and 26. This playgroup gives children up to age 5, with an adult, the chance to interact with peers while building reading and social skills.

Flavors of Fall will be held Thursday, Sept. 11 at 5:30 p.m. at the Central Library. Kate Shumaker, OSU Extension educator, will explore sweet fall flavors beyond pumpkin spice. Registration is required.

On Saturday, Sept. 13 from 11 a.m. to noon, children can participate in Paws to Read at the Central Library by reading to therapy dogs from Caring Therapy Canines.

Families are invited to a movie matinee at the Central Library on Saturday, Sept. 20 at 1 p.m. The featured film will be the live-action version of “How To Train Your Dragon,” rated PG. Snacks and drinks will be provided, and children must be accompanied by an adult. Guests are encouraged to bring a chair or blanket.

The month will conclude with adult book clubs at the Central Library on Tuesday, Sept. 30. At 1 p.m. members will discuss “How To Age Disgracefully” by Clare Pooley, followed by a 6 p.m. session to discuss “The God of the Woods” by Liz Moore.
