Lake Township seeks new zoning administrator amid multiple resignations and infrastructure approvals
Trustees authorize $2.2 million in expenditures, adjust meeting schedule and address road, police and maintenance projects

At their Oct. 13 meeting, Lake Township trustees accepted the resignation of Zoning Administrator Nicole Wilkinson, effective Sept. 19, and approved a separation agreement. No reason was given at the meeting. Trustees also accepted the resignation of Chris Feller from the Board of Zoning Appeals, effective immediately.
In other business, the board rescheduled their Nov. 10 meeting to Thursday, Nov. 6, at 5 p.m. because of scheduling conflicts.
Trustees accepted the resignation of Travis Nesbitt, a full-time Road Department employee, effective Sept. 26. He will be employed by the Summit County Engineer’s Office. His accumulated unused sick leave time will be transferred there.
The board agreed to pay Winter Equipment $6,509.28 for the purchase of replacement carbide cutting edges for the Road Department’s Boss V-plows. They agreed to pay Unkefer Sales LLC $4,300 for repairs needed on a Road Department mowing tractor. They agreed to pay $4,418.33 to Southeastern Equipment for repairs needed for the Road Department’s street sweeper. They approved a memorandum of agreement with the Ohio Department of Transportation for the purchase of brine solution for the Road Department. They approved an addendum to the design-build agreement between the board and C. Tucker Cope & Associates for the Road Department equipment storage building project. They approved a memorandum of understanding/modification for the Utility Workers Union of America, AFL-CIO, which is a clarification of sick leave payout upon termination or retirement.
Trustees agreed to pay $17,160 to S&K Asphalt and Concrete Inc. for repairs needed on Donalou St.
The board agreed to pay Wells Quality Excavating a 6% increase for salt for snow and ice removal services for the township cemeteries, administrative office and the Uniontown Police Department, and to renew the contract beginning Nov. 1.
Trustees agreed to pay $5,090.90 to Media 144 to replace the server for the in-house camera system at the Uniontown police station. They agreed to pay Hall Public Safety $4,677.28 for a lockable storage unit/organizer for the back of the new police cruisers. They amended the township’s public records policy to add provisions for charges of paper copies requested of the Uniontown Police Department.
The board directed the fiscal officer to certify the amended 2025 lighting districts’ assessment amounts of $105,914 for all five districts to the Stark County auditor.
Trustees acknowledged correspondence sent on their behalf supporting the Stark Economic Development Board’s Abandoned Mine Land Economic Revitalization (AMLER) program application.
The board authorized expenditures in a total amount of $2,229,952.35.
Following the business meeting, trustees recessed to executive session with the fiscal officer and the police chief to conduct interviews for the new office of captain. No action was to be taken that evening.
