The Lake Local Board of Education adopted the 2026-27 school calendar and set graduation for May 23, with a May 24 rain date.

January is School Board Recognition Month. At the Jan. 12 business meeting of the Lake Local Board of Education, Superintendent Brett Yeagley made the announcement and presented each board member with a plaque.

At the organizational meeting held prior to the business meeting, the board elected Scot Nabors as president and David Barrett as vice president. The board approved holding meetings on the third Monday of each month, unless a holiday or other event interferes. As a result, the next meeting will be held Feb. 9 because the third Monday is Presidents’ Day.

In other business, the board adopted the 2026-27 school calendar and authorized Yeagley to sign an agreement between the board and the Stark County Schools Council of Governments.

The board accepted a $5,000 donation from an anonymous donor for the Lake High School robotics program.

The board approved May 23 as the graduation date, with a rain date of May 24, at Blue Streak Stadium.

At the conclusion of the business meeting, the board recessed into executive session to discuss a personnel matter. No action was taken.
