Lake Center Christian School invites the community to gather for a special milestone as it hosts its 40th annual auction on Saturday, April 18, from 5-8 p.m. in the school’s main gym.

This year’s theme, “We Are God’s Handiwork,” reflects Ephesians 2:10: “We are God’s handiwork, created in Christ to do good works.” The event celebrates four decades of faithfulness and provision at Lake Center Christian, which has served Hartville-area families for more than 78 years with a Christ-centered education for students in grades K-12.

The annual auction remains the school’s primary fundraiser, supporting the general operating fund and endowment. Beyond fundraising, the event offers a time of fellowship, bringing together families and the community to celebrate the impact of Christian education.

“We are excited to come together and celebrate not only what God has done this past year, but His continued faithfulness over the past 40 years,” said Laura Kell, advancement coordinator at Lake Center Christian School. “This theme reminds us that we are God’s handiwork. The mission of our school has been sustained by the faithful generosity of those who believe in what God is doing here.”

The evening will begin with an artisan market from 5-6 p.m., featuring handmade items from students, alumni, faculty, staff and community members. Dinner and a program will follow from 6-7 p.m., highlighting student stories and the school’s impact.

The live auction begins at 7 p.m. and will conclude around 8 p.m., featuring items such as a zero-turn lawn mower and other packages and experiences. An online auction will also be available, allowing supporters to participate remotely.

Organizers are seeking business and personal sponsorships, as well as donations of new items or experiences valued at $50 or more. Larger items such as vacation packages, golf carts or garden sheds are also encouraged. Sponsorships and donations will be accepted through April 1.

Tickets must be purchased in advance and are available at lccs.com/auction. Those interested in donating items can email auction@lccs.com.

While the fundraising goal is $150,000, organizers say the event’s success is measured by more than dollars raised.

“A successful auction is when people leave feeling grateful that they got to experience something so meaningful,” Kell said. “It’s about hearing stories, seeing Christ through interactions, and recognizing the impact they are making in the lives of countless students.”

As Lake Center marks 40 years of auctions, the community is invited to reflect on its history and continue supporting the school’s mission through participation and generosity.
