Why should residents vote for you?
“Decisions made by the school board focus on the students first. As part of the school board team, we ensure the students are getting the resources they need while managing our finances closely. I'm proud to be a Harrison Hills board member and want to continue to build on what we have done.”
Please share about your experience as a board member.
“My experience as part of the Board of Education has been excellent, We have made some hard decisions to improve the safety of our students and staff. A good example is the recently implemented intelligent security screen system that allows us to keep our students and staff safe while in our building. We expanded upon this by providing free clear backpacks to each student attending Harrison Hills. These facilitate the morning safety screening as the students and staff enter the building.”
What sets you apart from other candidates?
“My husband, Josh Willis, and I have four children enrolled in our school district. Our oldest daughter graduated in 2024 from Harrison and is attending The Ohio State University. Our family is committed to supporting this school district - we will have children enrolled in this district for the next 12 years. I am a U.S. Air Force veteran and know that it means to serve my country and community to the fullest extent. Serving on the Board of Education allows me, working with the school administration and other board members, to provide our students with the education they need to be successful throughout their lives. I'm often out and about in our district talking with parents, attending community and school events to learn their priorities and concerns, too.”
What issues facing the school are you most concerned about?
“State budget changes have the potential to negatively impact our district. As a board member, I'm very concerned changes would impact our financial bottom line, resulting in significant challenges to maintain the essential programs our students rely on.”
What do you hope to accomplish if reelected?
“I'm very proud of the direction our school board has taken. Harrison Hills City School District has some significant challenges to overcome including raising test scores especially in Language Arts and Math, improving readiness to enter the workplace or post-secondary education, and providing the support and materials our teachers need to teach our children.”
