Fiscal Officer Renea Riesen introduced two ordinances that were needed to be read as emergencies at their Feb. 25 meeting. The first one was for permanent appropriations for current expenses “and other expenditures” ending the fiscal year Dec. 31, 2026.

The second ordinance dealt with the Silver Spade Joint Ambulance District, of which the village is a current participant. The new contract calls for the emergency reading after Village Solicitor Jack Felgenhauer drew up the ordinance after the issue was discussed at their previous meeting. This ordinance allows Mayor James Clark to sign the agreement. Both ordinances were approved unanimously.

Also, Village Administrator Jason Tubaugh told council an Ohio EPA sanitation inspection took place Feb. 24. He said nothing was found with their water treatment process or testing measures, which he called “great.” And under the Wastewater Treatment Plant, another meeting, this time with Tucson Inc. Feb. 18 where two change orders were approved.

Tubaugh said an extension was approved for May 21 for “substantial completion” where he said there was no choice in the matter. He repeated in his report that May 31 is the last day for available funding and said the contractor is aware. Also, the issue with two residents not signing an easement for providing sanitary services remains.

“This has not been resolved,” Tubaugh said in his report, which was said in the last meeting two weeks prior.

He also addressed next season’s salt allotment with 180-200 tons needed because they basically depleted the majority of what they had for this winter.

Also, Riesen said after the latest personnel committee meeting, a pay raise was approved for village workers Brian Jurosko and Jim Albright at 1.4%. Council approved the raise unanimously.

Council also set May 1 as the date to open the park restrooms.
