Beekeeping class planned at Puskarich Library

Topics will include benefits of keeping bees, equipment and supplies, honeybee biology, hive management, purchasing supplies and hands-on training to manage bees.

The Harrison County Beekeepers Association will host a beginner beekeeping class, Everything You Need to Know to Begin Keeping Bees, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 21 at the Puskarich Public Library’s Coalminers Museum Theater, 200 E. Market St., Cadiz.

Registration includes the classroom session and a beekeeping manual provided by the association. Lunch will be provided.

The cost is $50 per person, or $25 for each additional person from the same family or household. Registration also includes a one-year membership in the Harrison County Beekeepers Association.

A field day will be held at a later date, with the location and time to be announced. The field day will include hands-on instruction and opportunities for ongoing support and mentoring from experienced beekeepers.
